EP Finance Forecast · for fee earners

Know your cash, months ahead.

Fees and retainers coming in. Insurance, professional fees, your accountant and the tax bill going out. One grid shows where your bank balance is heading, month by month.

The question every fee earner knows

If a client pays late, will there still be enough in the bank to cover the month? Forecast answers it on the first screen, in one sentence.

Set up in nine questions

The first time you open it, Forecast asks nine plain questions, one at a time, and builds your grid from the answers. Choose “A fee earner” and it suggests the lines that fit how you work: fees, retainers, expenses recharged to clients, professional indemnity insurance, professional body and registration fees, training and CPD, and subcontractors and associates. In the UK many sole traders use April, so it asks when your year starts.

Months ahead

Each starts from the same month last year, or your average. Type over any of them and every later month updates.

A cushion

Set the least you want in the bank. Any month that would close below it turns amber.

The tax bill

A tax bill paid last January shows up again next January.

Try it before you decide

What if a client pays late? What if a new client or project starts in March? What if you take on help? What if your fees go up? Each what-if becomes its own row under the grid, so you can switch it off and compare.

Spot what is slipping

A month that is well above or below its usual turns amber or red, and you can leave a note to say why. Regular payments lists every direct debit and subscription, with new ones and price rises at the top.
