Instructions for Extended Date & Symbol Shortcodes Plugin

This plugin provides a set of useful shortcodes that can be used to display various date elements, symbols, and the IP address of the user. Below are detailed instructions on how to use each shortcode:

Shortcodes Available

  • 2024 – Displays the current year with optional offset.
  • December – Displays the current month with optional offset.
  • 11 – Displays the current day with optional offset.
  • 11/12/2024 – Displays the current date in the specified format with optional offset.
  • © – Displays various symbols, like copyright (c), registered trademark (t), etc.
  • ©2003-2024 – Displays copyright symbol along with a start year and the current year.
  • Invalid IP address – Displays the IP address of the current user.

Using the Shortcodes

1. Year Shortcode – 2024

Use 2024 to display the current year. You can also add an offset:

2024 – Displays the current year, e.g., 2024.
2025 – Displays the next year, e.g., 2025.
24 – Displays the year in two digits, e.g., 24.

2. Month Shortcode – December

Use December to display the current month. You can add an offset:

December – Displays the current month, e.g., October.
January – Displays the next month, e.g., November.
Dec – Displays the month abbreviation, e.g., Oct.

3. Day Shortcode – 11

Use 11 to display the current day. You can also add an offset:

11 – Displays the current day, e.g., 25.
12 – Displays tomorrow’s day, e.g., 26.
Wed – Displays the day abbreviation, e.g., Mon.

4. Date Shortcode – 11/12/2024

Use 11/12/2024 to display the full date in a custom format:

11/12/2024 – Displays the current date, e.g., 25/10/2024.
2024-12-11 – Displays the date in ISO format, e.g., 2024-10-25.
11/12/2025 – Displays the date with a year offset, e.g., 25/10/2025.

5. Symbol Shortcode – Invalid symbol shortcode

Use Invalid symbol shortcode to display various symbols. Available options are:

© – Displays copyright symbol: ©.
® – Displays registered trademark symbol: ®.
™ – Displays unregistered trademark symbol: ™.
©2024 – Displays copyright and current year: ©2024.

6. Copyright Shortcode – ©2024

Use ©2024 to display the copyright symbol with an optional start year:

©2024 – Displays the copyright symbol with the current year, e.g., ©2024.
©2003-2024 – Displays the copyright from a specific start year, e.g., ©2003-2024.

7. User IP Shortcode – Invalid IP address

Use Invalid IP address to display the current user’s IP address:

Invalid IP address – Displays the IP address of the user visiting the page, e.g., 192.168.1.1.

Tips

  • All shortcodes can be used in posts, pages, and text widgets.
  • Make sure to properly close each shortcode and type it exactly as described above.
  • If using offset attributes, always provide the correct format for proper results.
